Sounds_of_a_Junkyard

There are many strange sounds in the junkyard, depending on the specialty of the yard (and your taste in vinyl albums).

Folkways Records, Circa 1964. I wait and wait for this to show up on Ebay but it never does! It would probably be cheaper to buy a high end portable recorder and go to the junk yard then buy this gem. Sounds in the above audio link are: blow torch, fire pile and a dump truck. All from this recording collection which is available on CD when you have to settle.

This reminds me of ‘The Sounds of Steel’ released by the National Steel Corporation of America.

    Oh my!
    I looooove junk yards.
The idea, the look, the variety, the creative impact that radiates from them, the symbology, the fact that they’re true forms of artistic collages, of course the sounds – and so much more.
    Maybe not the smell . . .

I must also go find a copy.
