Fluxgate Magnetometers are scientific instruments used to measure magnetic field strength. Here they are used as highly sensitive “magnetic microphones” recording tiny disturbances in the Earth’s magnetic field near the instruments. The operating frequency (50Khz – 120 Khz) is shifted to the audible range and further processed by baudline. This allows the minute magnetic variations to be enhanced and rendered as sound.
